Reiki in Hospitals. Integrative Medicine Programs

Do you know that Reiki is used in many hospital around the world? Some hospitals in Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, UK and US offer Reiki as part of their integrative medicine programs. A survey conducted in 2008 reported that over 800 hospitals in the US offered Reiki to their inpatients.

Across hospitals and clinics around the world patients find Reiki to speed-up their recovery. Health care systems start to recognize the benefits of Reiki. Ireland is also starting to introduce Reiki in many health centres. For instance Dr David Fennelly, consultant oncologist at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin and the Beacon Hospital in Sandyford, has been involved in the establishment of cancer support centres at both hospitals.

“Complementary therapies should be part of any cancer care plan and therapies such as Reiki, massage and aromatherapy provide a non-invasive form of relaxation, great comfort and improved quality of life for people during their treatment,” Dr Fennelly says.

High quality clinic researches on Reiki effects are quite new. As Reiki is proving to work, mainstream healthcare starts to run in-depth Reiki clinical trials. Here are three sources of Reiki research centres that conduct and compile Reiki investigations:

Western mentality revolves around data and figures, so I highly celebrate any progress made towards scientific and medical acceptance of Reiki. As Nicola Telsa said:

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.”
